The African American Heritage Parade

Kaila's Love Doves performed a  21 Dove Salute for The African American Heritage Parade this year in Newark. A few seconds later a single white Dove was released in honor and memory of Police Officer William Johnson.

The event celebrates its 45th year of marching from Lincoln Park to Central Avenue on Sunday, May 29th. This year’s theme is “Umoja…Focusing on The Ties That Bind Us Together.” There was a pre-parade ceremony at11:00 in front of the Grand Stand (Broad Street, City Hall). Every year thousands of young on-lookers explode with excitement as they gaze upon sky divers parachuting down onto the parade’s pathway in front of City Hall at 12:00 sharp followed by our 21 Dove salute preparing the way for a thrilling four-hour spectacle that now draws thousands into the Essex County area annually.
